Providing secure scooter and motorcycle parking will further promote scooter and motorcycle use, which are fuel efficient and space efficient alternatives to automobiles. The current motorcycle and scooter parking spots provide nothing to which one could secure or lock a scooter or motorcycle. With scooter and motorcycle thefts on the rise, lack of secure parking and heavy enforcement of sidewalk parking is causing scooter riders to have second thoughts about riding into center city.

Notwithstanding drawbacks, a motorcycle/scooter can be a more convenient mode of transport in several ways. The PPA needs to avoid artificially creating obstacles to their adoption among those who prefer them. I live in the logan square area and the biggest hurdle I find to purchasing a motorcycle is finding a solution to the parking problem. The PPA needs to be more forward thinking since the adoption of MC/scooter use can only be beneficial to the city.

I parked in an alley between St Johns the evangelist Church and Septa's corporate off where no one walks and was given a ticket never was warned. There was plenty of room for someone to walk on the side walk if the so desired. There is no sign street or no parking signs on this ally at all. I could understand if I was blocking the walk way. Numerous bikes and scooters parked here all summer with no warnings or tickets issued. Why now when the weather turned cold?

although its important for secure parking i also feel the rates recently expressed are grossly over inflated trying to charge 500 a year to park at a coral is not making it a cost effective mode of transportation at all
