Move To Amend; Grand Rapids is a local grassroots affiliate of the national Move To Amend coalition, dedicated to educating the public on the issues surrounding Corporate Personhood and the need for Campaing Finance Reform.

Our goal is to build support for the Amendment of the US Constitution to specifically address these issues in order to to retore our democracy to We the People

The recent Citizens United v. the Federal Election Commission Supreme Court decision that rolled back the legal limits on corporate spending in the electoral process creates an unequal playing field that heavily benefits corporations.

This decision allows unlimited corporate spending to influence elections, candidate selection, and policy decisions that favor corporations at the expense of citizens and the communities we live in.

The abusive lobbying practices inherent in corporate personhood sway the votes of politicians indebted to corporate contributors in order to ensure competitive campaign funds for their own re-election, and forces elected officials to divert their attention from The Peoples’ business.

Often, the elected officials even vote against the interest of their human constituents as a result of undue corporate influence in politics.

Virtually every aspect of life in America is negatively impacted by the undue influence of corporate money influencing government policy:
The purity of the food and water we depend on
The prevention of toxic chemicals entering our environments
The safety and reliability of the products we buy
The quality of education in the schools our children attend
The affordability of medical care and safe, effective prescription drugs
The integrity of our retirement funds, the value of our homes, and security of our jobs

It's not ALL we have to do, but eliminating corporate personhood would go a long way toward restoring the U.S. Constitution to the way it was intended. Which is important to me!

Pass a Resolution to Abolish Corporate Personhood
