On October 6, 2009, a kitten named Cuddles died. Her little whiskers were burned;  so was her entire back. A group of young men threw rocks at her then put lighter fluid on her back and lit it.  Screams of agony, she was finally rescued. The brown tabby greeted David Schlott, a Delaware County animal control officer, that despite her pain from broken bones and burned body, she climbed up his shirt and snuggling against his neck, thereby acquiring her name. A few days later Cuddles died due to human cruelty from internal injuries of being stoned.   Schlott said "Cuddles was really a good-natured kitten".

Across the nation, there are countless kittens and cats who suffered the same fate as Cuddles. Please sign/share for Cuddles and multitudes like her who have died due to human cruelty.

According to every research and leading Criminologist, animal cruelty is often a predictor of child abuse, domestic violence; such crimes are already in progress. Often a pet is tortured in front of a child or spouse to assert domination and terror in the family.

News article: Animal abuse and domestic violence linked

A Statewide database of convicted of animal cruelty  is an effective tool to investigate and fight domestic violence and child abuse, paid for at the expense of the offenders. This would also serve as a most valuable tool for social workers, adoption agencies, and child welfare advocates to assess potential placement risks, but also prevention of future violence.  Criminologists--as an assessment tool for investigating serial killers and violent criminals leading to convictions.

Individuals who are convicted of animal cruelty MUST pay for the expense of being on the database.

Children who abuse animals learn it from their role models perpetuate the cycle of violence,  deviant and Anti-social behavior very expensive to society and is dangerous to the public.

Quote: National Institute of Health

"Cruelty to animals is associated with elevated rates observed in young, poor, men with family histories of antisocial behavior and personal histories of conduct disorder in childhood, and antisocial, obsessive-compulsive and histrionic personality disorders, and pathological gambling in adulthood. Given these associations, and the widespread ownership of pets and animals, effective screening of children, adolescents and adults for animal cruelty and appropriate mental health interventions should be deployed."

Exposing society, especially children and young people to animal cruelty leads to antisocial and deviant behavior.

"A history of animal cruelty during childhood was significantly associated with APD, antisocial personality traits, and polysubstance abuse. Mental retardation, psychotic disorders, and alcohol abuse showed no such association.," J Am Acad Psychiatry Law 30:257–65, 2002

Also criminologist note that virtually every serial killer begun their "training" by torturing and killing animals because it was entertaining, effectively desensitized by suffering and screams of agony of animals, will begin to get their thrills with "bigger" game, that is, children and adults: A serial killer or violent criminal is created from this.

Thank you for your time.

I love animals and believe they have a right to live free from abuse, neglect & torture of any kind. They have feelings and a right to live just as we do. As it stands now the laws reaction is weak & ineffective. Ask yourself, if it were me wouldn't I want protection under the law?? IT IS TIME TO CHANGE OUR LAWS--LETS HAVE THE COURAGE TO DO THIS.

Changes need to be made, cruelty and animal abuse must never be tolerated, accountabilty and punishment for these crimes must be enforced if it is to be effective for future generations.
