Remove the axe from Bifur's head in the film adaptation of The Hobbit

The Hobbit is is a beloved book which should be treated with the respect that it deserves, and which Peter Jackson as the creator of the extremely successful adaptations of The Lord of the Rings is capable of providing. The Hobbit films promise to be huge technological, commercial and artistic successes, but for this one element - an axe stuck in the head of one of the company of the dwarves who accompanies Bilbo Baggins on the quest to Lonely Mountain to retrieve the Dwarves' treasure from Smaug the Magnificent. This gag is so "off" that it threatens to fatally distract from the films for many loyal fans, and should be eliminated before it is too late.

The axe is too distracting and silly. Not even a Dwarf could survive such a wound. It's the one flaw in an otherwise beautiful vision of the story.

This axe in the forehead is a totally unnecessary and annoying over the top addition. Hate it.

That piece of metal in bifur's head is ridiculous and ugly. And, if I can say more, all Dwarfs look like retards or gay teenager elfs.

The Hobbit is a children's book but most of the people who love it and Tolkien's other writings are adults. Tolkien himself later regreted the more infantile aspects of the Hobbit. This stupid gimmick that Jackson has put in Bifur's forehead takes the film yet further down that infantile path, and threatens to make a mockery of the whole enterprise.
