Grant retrospective planning permission to Charlie and Meg's roundhouse

We have built a home on private land in the area that we both grew up in. It is built out of low impact, natural and recycled materials. In building the house we have not caused any negative effects on the surrounding area or its population, we have simply created shelter as is our human right. We understand that the planning system is there for a reason, however we feel that big steps need to be taken in order to make low impact living more achievable and accessible to the population. Our application contains a One Planet Development management plan which sets out our plans for living lightly on the land. This management plan follows One Planet Development Practical Guidance Technical Advice Note 6 dated October 2012 guidelines set out by the Welsh Assembly and therefore our home is in accordance with these targets.

Buildings like this are crucial for reducing negative impact on the planet and for housing the 7 1/2 billion people currently needing housing. It is perfect for both and also a lovely work of craft.

Because the building is low-impact on the environment and very much in tune with the surrounding countryside.

Planning laws seem only to probibit and hinder families from being able to make affordable homes and meaningful environments for themselves. This families ingenuity, aplication of skill and determination to build an affordable and ecologically friendly home should be praised and promoted for others to follow their lead. Punitive and mean spirited application of planning law is always a shame to see.
