Rosko has been working as a K9 Police Officer with the Village of Geneseo, NY for the past four years. The Mayor of Geneseo Richard Hatheway has decided to remove Rosko from the service he was trained to do over a $4500.00 expense to the village.

We ask that the village of Geneseo to permit the Yasso family to keep Rosko as a family pet at NO CHARGE. And not to place Rosko up for public auction to the highest bidder. Rosko requires special handling, training and discipline due to his line of work and training. Placing him for auction is an inhumane way to create a living, breathing creature trained to protect in the line of duty.

When I started this petition this morning, I wanted 3,000 signatures to deliver to the Mayor on May 7, 2012. We are half way there and I can not wait to share this excitement with Geneseo, NY.

Remember the mayor at election time, maybe he can be auctioned off?

Its not right to separate an officer from his K9, who's dog was his partner on the job for 4 years.

Roscoe needs to be with the ones that love him. Hope these people understand this, why is it so hard to see this??

Keeping Rosko with Yasso's family is the only humane reward for Rosko's service.

I have no vested interest in this town or family but did have 2 close friends who were K-9 Cop who have faced loss of K-9 partners. This can and frequently is unsuccessful and dangerous to de-program a dog to another setting, particularly a non-work setting. How financially destitute could a town be to consider not leaving this dog with its handler in a proven successful setting?
