Restore Affordable parking for Broadway employees on 9th Avenue!

    1. Petition by

      K.C. Boyle

For decades, 9th Avenue has served as the main source of parking for Broadway employees at work. Up until last month, Broadway employees had a safe and affordable option for parking along the avenue after 7pm, however with the new regulations imposed by NYC DOT this is no longer a viable option. The new regulations negatively affect thousands of employees who are trying to earn an honest living during already tough economic times. Please join us in signing this petition and help send a message to City officials that we care about our community!

Broadway is an economic generator for NYC. Parking must be affordable so people can attend.

As a Broadway musician - in particular, one who lives outside the City and plays drums and percussion and therefore must often rely on driving in and parking when I go to work - losing viable parking spaces in the area is troublesome. I understand that the municipality needs increased revenue streams to make up for budget shortfalls. However, stripping Broadway employees of viable places to park - when our industry brings in so much revenue to the City - is reprehensible and short-sighted.

The welfare of Broadway employees has always been important to me because my father has played percussion in broadway shows for my entire life.
