Despite their assertions to the contrary, Chick-fil-A has actively supported organizations that work against LGBT rights, including the Family Research Council, Focus on the Family, and Exodus International (which attempts to "fix" gay behavior).

Northeastern University recently announced that it would host a Chick-fil-A in the Curry Student Center, giving its tacit approval to the fast food chain's policies by letting Chick-fil-A market and sell to some of the very students and customers they seek to "fix".

Northeastern must not be in the business of choosing a few bucks over respect for parts of its own community. Allowing Chick-fil-A to operate on campus would be an insult to the LGBT students, faculty, staff and supporters that help make Northeastern such a great school.

I ask that Northeastern reverse its decision to allow Chick-fil-A to operate on campus, and to select an alternative food vendor for the Curry Student Center.

Please be sure to add to the "why people are signing" field. We want Northeastern to know just how much this agreement insults parts of its own community.

According to Northeastern's director of communications Renata Nyul, last night SGA senate vote has convinced the university to remove Chick-fil-A from consideration for the Curry Student Center renovations.

Congratulations everybody, we did it - Chick-fil-A's bigoted business will not be on Northeastern's campus!

      Hey all,

Thanks for your support in our efforts to convince Northeastern that supporting Chick-fil-A is a bad idea. I want to encourage you to look at the most recent issue of Northeastern's student newspaper, the Huntington News. In it, you'll find two editorials that agree with our position, and a separate article that outlines the controversy.

The article is interesting. SGA reps from the past and present point to a survey that claims an overwhelming amount of the Northeastern student body are infatuated with the idea of Chick-fil-A on campus, but they're unable to supply the study itself.

Well, I've been slipped a copy of that survey, and I'd like to show you that information. Isn't it only fair that we're all on the same page?

In the survey, Chick-fil-A fares well only when pitted against the least popular vendor on campus, and only in a head-to-head matchup. And even then, fewer than 50% of students said go for it.

Take a look. Stay informed. Spread the word.

Chick-fil-A is unhealthy and supports anti-gay movement. As an institute of higher learning and a philosophy of supporting multicultural students, we should not support a company that does not do the same. Additionally, we should not support a company that increases Obesity, which has become a major social problem.

A business operating in todays highly competitive environment must understand that personal values and beliefs do not have a place in the marketplace. Especially when those values and believes directly aid and or support efforts to hinder the rights of a specific group of people. Regardless of the type of discrimination they are participating (i.e. LGBT, Race, Sex) Chick-fil-a needs to understand that discrimination of any sort will NOT be tolerated at Northeastern University!

We too have rights. We have a voice. We will use it.

I am firmly against supporting the business of Chick-fil-A knowing that they actively work to support anti-gay legislation.
