We the undersigned, oppose the introduction of a bill to the North Carolina Legislature which would alter G.S. 115-563(a), which states:

"Home school" means a nonpublic school in which one or more children of not more than two families or households receive academic instruction from parents or legal guardians, or a member of either household.

The law as it stands is testimony that it has worked for many years and does not need changed. It isn't broken therefore it doesn't need changed.

As a homeschooling family, I do not believe that most legislatures understand the effect these new laws may have upon us. My opinion of this particular bill is not of issue; it's the process of how legislatures review, determine, decide, and implement these homeschooling laws upon their constituents without true regard of us, our children, and our families.

I think the homeschool laws in NC should stay as they are. These laws have been in place for many years and work for the majority. It is my opinion that if we as parents choose to homeschool our children, it is our constitutional and parental right to do so as we see fit. As a registered voter in the state of NC I DO NOT support this bill.

The law works so why fix what is not broken. Leave well enough alone.

Because I'm a home school parent and I am happy with the way things are. Change is not always good, as in this case.
