In a Sunday sermon to his congregation on 13 May 2012, Pastor Charles L. Worley of North Carolina Providence Road Baptist Church stated that he was called and inspired by 'God' to find the best way to 'kill all the world's homosexuals once and for all' and is advocating mass genocide.

Pastor Says Kill All ‘Queers And Homosexuals’ By Airlifting Into Electric Pen

Freedom of speech or religion is one thing, but when you are exhorting people to 'help in the effort to find the best way of killing every gay person on the planet' you have clearly taken a giant step across the line. Freedom of religion also means freedom *from* religion. In August of 2010, I was set upon by 6 young men, their ring leader only 15 years old, who viciously beat and stomped me to literally within an inch of my life. I was on life support for 2 days, in ICU for four days and in the hospital for over 2 weeks. I had 13 compound rib fractures, a collapsed left lung and my right eyelid and cornea were torn off causing me permanent partial blindness in my right eye. My 'crime'? Being gay. The 'defense' (or mitigating factors) offered at trial? That the young man was told by his pastor that gays are abhorrent to God and need to die.

Religious zealots and other (far) right wing nut jobs like Pastor Worley need to be told loudly and in no uncertain terms that when you hold a position of actual or perceived 'authority' (be it moral or political in nature) and people act on your words, then yes, you will indeed answer to a 'higher authority' ... ME (and YOU, the signers of this petition) and anyone else who finds it repugnant that a so-called 'man of God' could act in a clearly un-'Christian' manner.

NEWTON NC -- More than 2,000 protestors armed with signs and slogans lined Newton’s Southwest Boulevard on Sunday morning. They were there in reaction to the May 13 sermon by Charles Worley, pastor of Providence Road Baptist Church. In the sermon, Worley called for all gays and lesbians to be imprisoned behind an electric fence.

The protestors came out in force to bring a message of love and acceptance.

Their signs bore bold statements like, “Jesus had 2 dads and he turned out just fine.” And “I am a gay, moral, conservative Christian” and "Honk your horn for Equality."

Sheriff’s deputies and Newton police officers kept the peace as the protestors stood by the side of the road and cheered every time a car drove past and honked in approval.

A vocal group of more than 50 counter-protestors were on hand to support Worley and his church.

They too had signs with slogans like, “Sodomites are vile, unnatural and worthy of death. Romans 1:21-32.” And “Gay pride is why Sodom got fried.”

Adam Eyster, a new friend I have made here on Change.org is promoting a petition also aimed at stopping the Christo-Fascist 'death to all gays' Hate Speech coming from more and more preachers in the USA today (especially in North Carolina). He is attempting to get the preacher featured in my own petition to step down. If you have the time and are able to sign one more petition, please follow the link at the bottom of this update.

    4. AC360: Pastor Worley Defender Says ‘Yes I Agree’ Gays Should Die

      Petition Organizer

Last night CNN's Anderson Cooper talked with a parishioner and defender of North Carolina Pastor Charles L. Worley, who fully supports his call to round up all lesbians and “queers and homosexuals” and place them in a genocide-like concentration camp complete with an electric fence. “Yes, I agree with him." Stacey Pritchard said, “Sometimes you gotta be scared straight. If they can’t get the message that that’s wrong, then, you know, they can’t reproduce and eventually they would die.”
Curiously Pritchard can’t seem to grasp fully the fact that it’s straight people who keep making gay people. Ignorantly, Pritchard says it’s never going to happen, people are never going to put gays or Jews, behind electric fences. Cooper says it’s already happened, it’s called the Holocaust, and adds it’s happening today all around the world. Aside from her arrogance and ignorance, what is really offensive is her attitude. She thinks she’s right, she’s standing with the word of God. She has no clue.

    5. Worley’s Church Members Support Pastor And Bible: Gays ‘Worthy Of Death’

      Robert Hare
      Petition Organizer

Should anyone be surprised that the North Carolina parishioners of Pastor Charles L. Worley of Providence Road Baptist Church, support his decades-log view that gays deserve to be killed? Quoting the Bible, Worley’s flock tell reporters they fully support him and that gays should be killed. Worley twice this month called for the mass murder of the world’s homosexuals by airlifting and dropping all “lesbians” and all “queers and homosexuals” into an electrified fenced-in area so they can die out.

“So he had every right to say what he said, about putting them in a pen, feeding them. The Bible says they’re worthy of death. He only preaches the word,” says Geneva Sims of the Pastor’s plan to kill gay people. Sims is a parishioner of Pastor Worley and fully supports him.

Another supporter, Stacey Pritchard says, “Sometimes you gotta be scared straight.”

Have no doubt: words like those from Pastor Worley, and his supporters, are contributing to the suicide deaths of our children.

    6. Lesbian Church Attendee Of ‘Genocide For Gays’ Pastor Worley Speaks

A woman who is a lesbian and attended Pastor Charles L. Worley‘s church for years, spoke today to journalist David Pakman. She says attended Worley's church more than 20 times, and also has a family member who attends the Church currently. Worley is the North Carolina Pastor who called for the mass murder of the world’s homosexuals, by airlifting all “queers and homosexuals” into an electrified fenced-in area. She said she was “not surprised” that Pastor Worley had advocated for all gays and lesbians to be rounded up and dropped into a pen surrounded by an electric fence so they could all die off. She also tells Pakman that there were “quite a few ‘Amens’ from the congregation,” when Pastor Worley would rail against homosexuality — which he said was “against biblical scripture” from the pulpit a number of times in the years she attended his church. Churches are prohibited from advocating for or against candidates. Worley said President Obama was a “homosexual lover” and “baby-killer."

North Carolina Pastor Charles L. Worley of Providence Road Baptist Church, twice this month called for the mass murder of the world’s homosexuals, including musing about how to kill off the entire gay population: Pastor Worley told his parishioners that he wants to airlift and drop all “lesbians” and all “queers and homosexuals” into an electrified fenced-in area so they can die out. There is a planned protest and petitions. Cable news networks, CNN and MSNBC have also reported on Pastor Worley’s hate speech.

    9. Anderson Cooper and Martin Bashir take on 'kill all the gays' preacher

      Robert Hare
      Petition Organizer

Anderson Cooper interviewed Rev. Welton Gaddy of the Interfaith Alliance, who said Pastor Worley’s words were un-Christian and un-American, and that he had disrespected the Bible and the Constitution:

This minister managed to discredit from his pulpit, both the Constitution of the United States and the compassion that we find in the Bible, and additionally, he did a very dangerous thing by planting seeds of hatred in sick minds that in the right circumstances can act on them and do the kind of violence that has no place in our world.

Martin Bashir also took on Pastor Worley

His guest, Anthea Butler, Associate Professor of Religious Studies at University of Pennsylvania said there’s no justification for any of these religious attacks. "I think what we have to do is stop allowing people to come on TV and quote scriptures all the time and say that’s it, God settles it. If they don’t know the difference between an errant, literal and infallible meaning, they shouldn't talk about it.

It’s actions like this, that send a strong message to bigots and haters that it’s not just the LGBT community, but average, everyday, decent Americans who refuse to allow this country to be ruled by anti-gay hate.

Please contact the IRS to ask them to investigate Pastor Worley’s apparent violation of IRS regulations on charitable organizations not being able to advocate for or against a particular candidate, which Pastor Worley certainly seems to have done in his “sermon.” (calling President Obama a 'baby killer and homosexual lover').

Under the Internal Revenue Code, all section 501(c)(3) organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office.

I am a straight Roman Catholic, and a firm believer of a righteous loving God in heaven. However it sickens me to find all this hate against people who are of same sexual orientation. Christianity in all forms is a persecuted religion one that has for many years tried to fight for its beliefs, and escape persecution. I am sickened by the offense that is given by Christian communities against gay/lesbian relationships and marriage. Besides from that marriage is not a strict right given to Christianity, as many other religions believe in the binding of two souls in matrimony. I know I am two years behind the ball for this argument here, but I decided that better late than never in this situation. Everyone deserves their rights as human beings. To end this I have a question for Pastor Worley, "When was the last time you stoned a women to death for committing adultery? Or the last time you killed away a baby because the father looked in it's eyes and deemed it not his? When was the last time you burned a man at the stake? The old ways are dying, we are entering a world of equality and acceptance. God loves all his children equally. If you are so blind to see yourself deserving of better treatment then other children of God, you have gone blind to God himself.

By my judgement, this pastor has violated several important provisions that grant churches their tax-free status and as such should be immediately converted to a taxable status, fined, and audited under those provisions by the IRS. Additionally, Homeland Security should be involved under their terrorist organization definitions.

Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph.
