Grant permission for Team 255a to attend the VEX World Championship

      Exton, PA

In their first year these Norristown area students earned an Excellence award and the last spot at the VEX World Championship in the area of PA they live in. They are one of only 14 teams who earned a spot to the World Championship in Anaheim, CA.

The Norristown School Board denied these children the opportunity to travel to Worlds for no stated reason. This petition is to show the school board that this team has supporters all over the world.

As a retired 30 year teacher in the Norristown Area Schools, I had the opportunity to moderate a student club for approximately 10 years. During that time period, I was fortunate to be able to take students to many local, state, and national conferences & competitions.

I am saddened to see how times have changed. I always had the full support of the school and district administrations to take these student on these trips. The current board should be asking, "how can we make this happen for these kids!"

As a bystander at the competition where they qualified for Worlds, tears were brought to my eyes for the overwhelming joy they displayed when they won. To qualify for Worlds is such a great accomplishment. The team has to work so hard for many hours and be so dedicated to reach such a goal. As a parent, I have difficulty understanding your denying them this opportunity to compete against teams from around the world. They are well deserving of this lifelong learning experience.

i feel we teach the children today to reach for their dreams so when they are on their way to reaching their dreams. Then you tell them sorry all of you students aren't allowed to reach the end of your deams and revice the reward. So my question is to the school board so are you going to say to the students that its ok to go half way in high school college and then quit becuase the end isnt worth it. The student have worked really hard to get where their at now and where their able to go all the way.
