      Joshua Tree, CA

To preserve the sacred environment of our national park and the unique character of our village for the 8,000 locals who live there and the millions of visitors who visit in order to get away from it all. To preserve the night skies. To preserve the water in the aquifer that sits under the proposed construction site. To preserve the local economy.

School is calming down a bit so I'm catching up on the news. Unfortunately, a precedent was set by Gov. Brown earlier this month. Please use this link to read more. Thank you for your support to preserve the integrity of the the horizon line and the open vistas in our national park gateway community.

I'm also pasting a link from the park which recently clarified it's "neutral" position on the still proposed casino. http://www.nps.gov/jotr/parknews/casino.htm
Defend Joshua Tree describes it's position on the proposed casino in it's blog which you can find with this link. Yes I have one of their shirts. http://defendjt.wordpress.com/

Thank you to all of the petition signers! Today I will drive one of two vans traveling from JT to Mission Viejo to oppose another threat to desert water, which is the Cadiz water project. The desert is a fragile and pristine place and us residents intend to keep it that way. Exporting water to use to water lawns in Orange County or fill water parks is absurb. A new perspective is needed and I believe that it will arrive. Please continue to share this No CasiNO petition with your friends so we can get the addl 40 and reach 1,000. Desert residents will continue battling the threats as they come up, though we'd rather relax and hike and create art and music here. The inspiration that brought us from the cities to here must be preserved. Thank you.

the negatives out number the positives in my eyes, in both the natural environment and local community. its a clear example of capitalism destroying a beautiful natural landscape for profit.

Casinos are nothing but a race to the bottom. They are what local governments turn to when they are faced with the reality of many years of terrible, short-sighted, decisions and policies they have made. Nobody but Casino owners benefit from the civic and cultural destruction casinos inevitably bring to a community.

Its just ok that we have one place that we can go to escape the reminder of commercial blight. Please support our rural area.
