Dear Nicolas Cage, I have read that you are very dedicated to making Ghost Rider II a success, so much so that you have taken a hefty pay cut in order to get this film made. Unfortunately Marvel Enterprises has won a settlement of $17,000 from artist Gary Friedrich (I am sure you know Mr. Friedrich is one of the creators of the Ghost Rider character). Marvel winning a lawsuit against a financially destitute and unemployed senior citizen who helped create the iconic character that is the subject of the movie you care so deeply about has created a distinct antipathy toward your project. The negative effect Marvel's lawsuit has caused is perhaps far greater than you know. Facebook and Twitter are aflame with negative comments, petitions and people urging others not to see your film solely because of Marvel's treatment of Mr. Friedrich. You stand to lose millions because of the public relations disaster Marvel has caused. Mr. Cage I know how you can personally overcome this PR nightmare, save your movie and make yourself a true hero in the eyes of the comics and movie-going public. Do you want that and more positive publicity than you have ever had? All it would take for you to be a true hero to millions of people is $17,000. That's less than the price of a car. Give $17,000 to Mr. Friedrich so that he can pay Marvel. Save your movie by saving Mr. Friedrich. My best regards to you Mr. Cage. I hope to see you at the movies. Sincerely, Karalyn Johnson

    2. Why I have not asked anyone to boycott Marvel

Although I despise what Marvel has done I have not asked anyone to boycott them because that will hurt Marvel of course, but it would also hurt the little guys like comic shops and their employees and even though Nicolas Cage can't really be called a little guy. If Mr Cage helps Mr. Friedrich then maybe he won't get hurt as badly as is slated to happen due to the backslash over Marvel's actions. Nicolas Cage LOVES comics and their creators. He doesn't deserve to suffer for what Marvel did to Gary.

      Mr. Cage,

I'm a longtime fan of you, your work, and the Ghost Rider character. You have proven over the years to be a serious supporter of the comic book as an art form. As an artist yourself, surely you recognize the importance of the Friedrich case and it's effect on the true artistic spirit behind our favorite art form.

Please consider publicly standing with small-time creative people in the face of such overwhelming odds. I know you will do the right thing.

WOW--- I met Gary at Comic Con a year or so ago, I am embarrassed to say I had no clue who he was as by sight. He was tucked in a corner on Artist Alley-- I observed a little kid (6-7) Go absolutely ape shit to meet him. I had to ask the Mom who the kid was so excited to see, she then told me who the kindly gentlemen was as I watched him interact with this kid for awhile with such care and enthusiasm for his work --- I was struck with the notion--THIS is what COMICS & CONS should be about !!! Marvel will continue to make a fortune off the backs of the men/women who create our comic book heroes and the fact that so many of the original creators see see little to none of those profits is REPREHENSIBLE !!! Nolan, Favaro, Cage,Garfield and Smith's would not be creating movies we enjoy so much with out these men. They have inspired a generation of Actors/Writers/Directors/Producers-- SHAME ON YOU MARVEL---For disrespecting your elders in such a manner !!!

I think it is shameful the way the man has been treated. Without his creativity, there would be no Ghost Rider.

Bastardization and theft of creative work, along with corporate mistreatment of creatives, is a totally disrespectful attack on creativity itself. The sum of $17,000 is pennies to the likes of Marvel (and no doubt a fortune to Mr Friedrich), yet still this corporation rides roughshod over the sources of creativity. This petition should be made public to the international press in a stand against such ill treatment and (wearing my PR head) would make an excellent support story of the cause. Yes Mr Cage, be a true hero and help stand up for the man who created the character you are playing!

Because comics creators are just as important as the characters they make.
