I want to see the rule Section 437:5 changed !!

I have been licensed by the NH Department of Agriculure for the past 6 years .  The first 5 years were outstanding until a new young inspector came along .  She reported to the NH State Vet that I was keeping birds in my kitchen . I get a notice that any one who has a license to sell live animals including birds is not allowed to house birds in the kitchen .  I am a breeder who  works out of my home and I also assist in re homing .  The only reason I got licensed was so that I could assist in re homing .  There is a rule under RSA 437

437:5 Rulemaking. –
I. The department may adopt rules, under RSA 541-A, relative to health and sanitation standards to effectuate the purposes of this subdivision.
II. The rules shall also include health precautions in the case of birds and animals which are offered for transfer, displayed, kept, or placed in stores or shopping facilities where food or drink of any kind is sold, prepared or served.

I am not a store , and Im not a shopping facility . I work out of the privacy of my home . All of my sales and re homings of birds takes place in my kitchen . I prep fresh fruits and veggies daily for my birds , and I hand feed baby parrots on my kitchen counter .  Please help me change this rule , before the Department of Agriculture comes knocking at your door  !!!

My chat with Wendy went well , She admitted that she does not know enough about agriculture to put in to change the law , but she was going to call the NH Department of Agriculture and make sure I got a fair ruling . She also told me she would do her best to make sure they provide me with any info I need that might help me move forward to change the law . Thank you all for signing and posting your reasons .. Please understand this rule only pertains to those of us who are licensed to sell live animals including birds . Who knows if we don't do something to change the rule now it might pertain to every house hold in,NH and every other state in the US

A NH State Rep is interested in talking to me more about possibly helping me change the rule for those of us who are licensed to sell live animals including birds from hour homes . We should have the right to keep animals including birds in our privet kitchens if we choose to do so licensed or not !!!

Because he is licensed and he is good at his job and I believe he should be able to house more birds and where he wants on his own property

There are many more problems in this world far worse than feeding baby birds in a kitchen. NH Dept. of Ag. Thomas is a good man that enjoys his birds. I hope you drop or change this ruling.

If people are told where they can keep their pet birds and where they can't, there are going to be a lot more unwanted and abanded birds in the world.
