      Albuquerque, NM

We the undersigned demand a ban on the sale and use of Fireworks in New Mexico in times of drought and extreme fire danger. Over 1 million acres of New Mexico burned this dry summer, and cities, counties, and the state were powerless to ban fireworks.

To:

Because we need to control those who do not care, and those who sell to anyone without fear of being responsible for getting on the 'grounds for cause' list of damaging towns. The celebration is not worth the risk.

Besides picnics, there is the national Washington Monument fireworks on TV.

Because I live in Los Alamos and I believe that fireworks CAN a) cause unintentional fires and, b) be lived without and people can still honor our nation's official birth without them.

Selling incendiary devices to people who are in many cases clueless to their impact or how to use them is like giving matches to children in a dynamite factory.
