The Nevada HIV/AIDS Strategy (NVHAS) is a comprehensive plan that addresses the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Nevada and the challenges that are faced everyday by those infected with HIV and those affected by or caring for them. This strategy is meant to be a cooperative effort between state, counties, and cities partnerships with direct involvement of agencies and clients. The NVHAS is a 10 year plan of how to identify obstacles and create solutions for the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It will encompass strategies for reduction of infections, increase testing efforts, identifying those out of care, best practices for continuum of care, and evaluation of current systems and financial capabilities.

As we approach 50, let us remember how change really happens. It starts with one voice, one calling, and one action. From there it takes hard work and dedication to see it through. Will you help us hit the goal of 1500 by World AIDS Day 2011? Share!

At some point, the personal becomes political. Change needs to happen. Too many are being injured needlessly.

I am currently lost in at system that is completely useless, time consuming, stressful, and at times pointless. I have told time after time that I should not feel entitled to help from places like AFAN from social workers when I do become frustrated and voice my concerns. Currently I am homeless and have lost all of my Ryan White services because no one even warns you when these services expire. I hear AFAN has a new community for HIV/AIDS clients. Well I just saw a social worker and they said nothing about this community. Currently in the HIV community I have friends dying and moving to cities with better care so they do not die, the rest are fighting and speaking out. No one is getting proper help. We no longer can stand organizations that promise so much and deliver nothing and have corruption attached to it.
