Do not grant the permit to Georgia Aquarium to import 18 Beluga Whales

Georgia Aquarium, Sea World Florida, Sea World California, Sea World Texas, Shedd Aquarium, and Mystic Aquarium want to import 18 Beluga Whales from the wild off of the coast of Russia. These whales are not injured. According to Sea World, this is for education. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says that capturing uninjured whales in the wild and shipping for display is rare. Let's not set a precedent of taking whales from the wild just to show them off at aquariums.

Silver Spring - Yesterday's public meeting at NOAA headquarters in Silver Spring, Md., tackled the issue of Georgia Aquarium's recent permit application to import 18 belugas from Russia. But there were a few attendees there who were clearly fish out of water.

Why would anyone allow these beautiful intelligent creatures to be put into prisons? Money is the only reason; please NOAA show us you don't care about the money!

No whales or dolphins belong to a tank. As big as the tank may be it is still a prison. Do not pretend education is a stake here, the only purpose of these places is to make money.

Please do not allow the transport of these Belugas for display in the U.S. Let them remain wild! These 18 Beluga Whales should be protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act...why aren't they?

These amazing creatures should be free not kept in an aquarium - no matter how well looked after they are.
