Keep the Crystal Palace One O'Clock Club open!!

We are a group of people who strongly believe that the Crystal Palace One O'Clock Club shouldn't be closed down.

At the moment this fantastic place is under threat of closure as the charitable trust that runs it mytimeactive has said that the building the club is in is dilapidated and they are unable to to pay for the repairs. They want to replace the One O'Clock Club with another kind of service for under fives and sub lease the building. So the One O'Clock club will close down. No one knows what other kind of service for the under fives will be.

We want to stop this from happening as we know that countless parents and children have benefited over the past 30 years.

The one o'clock club is the only facility of it's kind in the borough and I feel it would be a great shame and loss if it was to close. Our children should be given the same opportunities thourgh messy play etc where their parent's can also get involved, as in other neighbouring borough's. I feel we should have more of these facilities as the Bromley Borough is so big and has a growing number of children as does other borough's. At a time when parents get critised for not doing enough activities with their children, We should be going forward with this not backward's. I loved my time at one o'clock club when I was small, I would like the same for my Children and even grandchildren in years to come!

With so many children's centres closing in the area there are hardly any stay and play sessions left - and this is somewhere children can try lots of activities, messy play, painting, in beautiful surroundings. It would be so wrong to get rid of yet more play opportunities for the borough's children.

I run www.SE19kids.com and it seems so many facilities for children are under threat in the area - leave our services for children alone

Mytime Active closed down 5 medical referral gym sessions for chronically sick and disabled people at Bromley leisure centres last year. We fought to keep ours open at the Priory, but it is in a terrible condition, and we still are charged the full rate, while the equipment is vandalised and mostly unuseable. We are told that our ancient equipment can't be replaced, even with second hand 'cast-offs', because they need the cash to repair leaks in the pool at the Pavilion, where they have just fitted out the Gym with new equipment!

Mytime has recently expanded countrywide, and our contacts now tell us that the emphasis is on profit, not charity!! This is likely to be the reason why they want to close the One O'clock club, and replace it with something more lucrative. This is what can happen when Council Services and facilities, provided by the Community become effectively privatised.

The Board of Mytime meets in secret, and its agendas aren't public, but a Bromley councillor sits on the board. Perhaps your supporters can be asked to contact him with their concerns?

Very good luck with your campaign.

Like so many other mothers in the area, I have taken both my children here and agree that it is an absolute godsend. The staff who run it and the activities they organise are brilliant but they have had no investment for the last few years - with a bit of money and thought this could continue its brilliant work and remain an important central part of the community. It is unique in that it has outdoor and indoor space and wonderful, friendly staff who really connect with the children and the community they serve. Please don't close something so vital!
