Art must be preserved despite the economic or politic interests of a few. The highly regarded MoMA cannot promote the destruction of culture, as it is one of the pillars of civilization,

Why don't they destroy "Starry Night" while they're at it?

Do not demolish the American Folk Art Museum building. The building is a seminal work of architecture of the still new century. While it may not be of the same scale as Penn Station, it will be discussed alongside it when architects discuss preservation blunders. It is especially regrettable that an esteemed institution like MoMA would be responsible for its destruction.

We ask that the Museum of Modern Art reconsider its position and save the former American Folk Art Museum. The destruction of the building will result in MoMA no longer being regarded as a protector and promoter of the arts.

Obvious multi-repeated reasons.
Mainly the absurdity of destroying future's heritage.
REPORT THIS COMMENT:
This building is a contemporary piece of art with cultural significance. It would be appropriate for the MoMa to recognize the superlative value of it as part of the collection.
As a current student of TW&BT, their dedication to this profession and its output is unparalleled. This attention to architectural sensibility is evident in all of the work--but perhaps most evident in their Folk Art Museum. There is simply no excuse that this gem of a building, cherished by so many within and beyond the profession cannot be somehow integrated into MOMA's expansion in a thoughtful way. Re-imagine the building, don't destroy it.
Tod Williams and Billie Tsien's former American Folk Art Museum building is one of the most significant new structures in the Manhattan (and world) architecture landscape. It represents a masterpiece of contemporary architecture, which only makes it doubly tragic that MoMA would consider demolishing such a great work of modern art. For an institution which has featured exhibitions on modern architecture, this is a shocking disregard of the built arts as a segment of the genre of work for which MoMA supposedly exists to preserve and respect. If MoMA is truly committed to the protection and celebration of modern arts, they will find a way to respect and preserve such an important building. It could, and should, be celebrated as one of the most significant pieces in the MoMA collection!
UNIQUE DESIGN
Its beautiful.
