The accident that caused Cacie Barras McGrew to lose her life is still unresolved for her family and friends. Thus far, the man driving the vehicle that ended her life has not had any real consequences for this particular incident. Wade B. Lohse has a long history of arrests since 1996 in his home state of New Jersey. Included in his myriad of arrests are for an OWI and driving with a suspended license. He is currently awaiting 2 pre-trials for incidents that happened over a year ago. The charges include possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (2010) and simple burglary (2011). "The Daily Advertiser" states that the outcome of the suspended license charge is unknown.

In the fatal incident involving Cacie Barras McGrew, Wade Lohse had an open container and crossed the center line. Instead of being arrested, he was only issued 2 citations. 1. Open container and 2. Driving on the wrong side of the road. These citations alone are not acceptable! In the interim, we are frantically waiting for the results of Wade Lohse’s toxicology report which could take months. That's plenty of time for Mr. Lohse to drive the streets of Lafayette and/or Youngsville and cause another tragic death.

He has shown a complete disregard for the law too many times, so what is stopping him from doing it again? He has done more than enough to prove that he is a danger to this community, and he should not be trusted. He should be held accountable in the parish jail or under house arrest at the very least to ensure the safety of drivers in Lafayette and surrounding areas. The law enforcement system is supposed to protect the safety of the community, so why hasn't anything been done to make sure this man is no longer a threat to anyone else? Why has it taken so long for him face his long list of past charges?

The purpose of this letter is for Cacie’s supporters to make an impact and find justice for her daughter, her Mother, and her extended family and friends to find peace in a senseless and tragic loss. We want to see that this man, Wade B. Lohse, is in a position where he cannot harm anyone else. We will not stop until he has been adequately punished and his career criminal character properly validated. Until that happens, we will be organizing, demonstrating, and frequently corresponding with our media outlets. Help us gain speedy justice and remove a threat to our community!

Why is it important: Not only was Cacie a friend but she was a human being. She was a person who inspired many. It's time the justice system stops being about the offender but about the victim and their family. WHEN DO WE START PROTECTING AND FIGHTING FOR THE VICTIM! WE CANT UNTIL OUR SYSTEM CHANGES AND RECOGNIZES. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH JUSTICE SYSTEM AND THOSE WHO WORK FOR IT...MAKE THE LAWS THAT STAND UP FOR THE VICTIM AND THE FAMILY!!!

Grew up with Cacie and she was a pretty damn close friend of mine for most of the first 20 years of my life.

I believe that drunk drivers should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Repeat offenders need more than an open container charge when a life has been lost.
