Meijer and Menards: Do not build on Evergreen Golf Course

      Chicago, IL

We ask Meijer and Menards to move to any of the abundant, already available retail spaces in the area around Evergreen Park and the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago, IL instead of paving over 45 acres of important historic green space filled with wildlife and hundreds of old-growth Oak trees. The Evergreen golf course property is not appropriate for a development of this size and will create severe cost, safety and environmental issues. We ask for responsible economic development. We say: "IF YOU CHOP, WE WON'T SHOP!"

It makes absolutely no sense to destroy that amount of nature and replace it with hardscape. Not to mention displacing the small creatures who will have no where to live(except at my house under the deck).

EVERGREEN not ConcreteVillage. The Plaza is dying. Use it for Meijers and Menards. They are both good stores but if this project continues I will cease shopping at these retailers who are nearby here in MI. We need a good arboretum, green space in EP. I grew up within a 1/2 mile of this area and my niece and nephew live in the our family home. The destruction of the beautiful green space is devastating. Find another use and save the trees, land, and environment.

Chopping down the trees and destroying the open space - they should be arrested! Ill drive 15 miles to shop at their competitors.

I live right by the former golf course now desolate area and it makes me so sad to see our beautiful land being destroyed for greed.

With all the empty stores there are already why ruin a beautiful green place in the middle of the urban area. We need more green.
