We demand that you, Mayor McGinn, call off the police, and that Occupy Seattle be allowed to exercise free speech and voice its opposition to corporate control by demonstrating in Westlake Park in the city center where the targets of these protests, the multi-national corporations and banks, are located. We demand no restrictions on First Amendment rights to assemble, including attempts to seek protection from the weather, any time - day or night.

I am an American who can no longer remain silent. It sickens me to see fellow citizens viciously attacked by police across this nation. You cannot use the filmiest of reasons to strip away people’s rights!!!!!

I don’t believe our Founding Fathers intended that the Constitution should be overridden by local or state laws.

The First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech and the right to peaceably assemble. Nowhere does it say they need a permit or should be denied sleep in a public space while the group is there to protest.

Are our Constitutional rights only good during daylight hours?????

I shouldn't have to sign a petition to protect the 1st amendment, but I'm more than happy to. How dare we arrest peaceful protesters while the criminals that stole from the government (stole from the people) after bringing disaster on our economy walk free? Be a true leader Mayor McGinn, and show the world that we honor the constitution and the vision of our founding fathers.

I have heard firsthand accounts of peaceful protesters being kicked, yelled at, and flashlights disrupting their sleep. Occupy Seattle is a peaceful movement. They were promised safety at City Hall, but the abuse has continued. This is your opportunity to align yourself with a movement that will go down in history. Do you want to be remembered as being for that movement, or the one who stood by and did nothing?
