We the undersigned wish to express our outrage at what we consider a systemic pattern of unjustly lenient sentences for crimes against women and children. This leniency is a miscarriage of justice and must stop immediately.

On July 20Th of this year a 24 year old adult male who reportedly abducted a 14 yr old girl from a grocery store parking lot in May 2011 and was accused of sexually assaulting her before letting her go in front of a school. Was permitted by prosecutors to enter a plea bargain whereas he received only three years of supervised probation and six months of deferred jail time. Witnesses wrote down the car's license plate and that led to his arrest .The girl identified him as her attacker out of a police lineup.

In June of this year a cardiologist who was accused of sexually abusing 19 of his female patients, was permitted by prosecutors to enter a plea bargain that will prevent him from having to register as a sex offender. At least 19 women came forward to accuse him of 61 counts of sexual abuse. Despite the outcry and protests of local victims’ rights groups, this predator was sentenced to very minimal jail time and NOT required to register as a sex offender.

It is a known fact that the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has botched hundreds of sex crime investigations dating back as far as 2005. Many of these offenses involved child molestation and rape. Most of The offenders are still walking the streets where they have access to other victims.

We are calling on you as an elected official to ensure that ALL perpetrators of sex crimes are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, regardless of the perpetrator or victims socioeconomic status. We refuse to stand by idly while this County becomes a safe haven for sexual predators.

Sexually assaulting a woman or a child is as close as you can get to killing them with out actually killing. Not to mention a plea deal which THE VICTIM did not agree to does NOT get them justice. Stop telling rapists that it's ok. It's not OK and making sure these men know that and are punished is a prosecutors job. DO YOUR JOB, GET JUSTICE FOR THE VICTIMS!

I recently put the man who raped me when I was 12 in jail. He tried to make a plea bargain in which he would exchange a guilty plea for no further jail time and 10 years probation. Luckily, my lawyer is doing everything to make sure that doesnt happen. Good luck!

This is important to me because I am a victim of sexual assault and my abuser was released from prison early due to good behavior without me knowledge. Being sexually abused has a major and lasting affect on your life. Some learn to deal with it and live somewhat normally and some people never do. Fortunately i was one of those people that has learned to cope with it and allow my life to be better than what it actually could have turned out to be. The laws should be stricter for these crimes and i feel very passionately about this .

My son was molested by my ex-boyfriend when he was THREE YEARS OLD, and the detectives told me that they could not prosecute him, even after he failed a polygraph test, because they said that a three year old child was not considered a reliable witness!!!!! What kind of justice system lets child molesters and rapists off Scott free, while their victims and their family are traumatized forever!?!?!!!
