Permanently fix the major safety risk of the washout on the I&M Canal Trail between Utica and Buffalo Rock. This portion of the trail has been washed out since early 2013 without even an attempt to fix it. Makeshift and very unsafe crossings have been made by users but continuously get destroyed.

To:
Marc Miller, Director of Illinois Department of Natural Resources
I am asking you to please repair the I&M Canal Trail washout east of Utica. This washout proves to be a serious safety risk, as well as a hinderence to any and all users of this wonderful trail. Furthermore, the damaged trail also cuts out a direct link for tourists traveling the trail and hurts the economic growth of the surrounding cities.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

It's important to maintain this historic resource. The same goes for the Hennepin Canal Trail. Same washout problems.

I have been so frustrated that I rebel and go down that path every day now. I even camp there on the weekends.
