There have been numerous accidents at this intersection and it requires the attention of the County Commission to install any number of traffic calming alternatives such as a caution light, a stop light, additional signage, rumble strips, relocating neighboring drives, etc.

I spoke with Kevin Jones this morning who is Director of Operations for Dale Strong's district. Kevin indicates that the county engineering department has developed a plan for the intersection that will likely include an addition of a turn lane for traffic turning on to Bishop Road. The project is not yet listed on their website (http://madisoncountyal.gov/about/org/CoDepts/publicworks/) but Kevin suggested checking there frequently to find the latest updates about the project.

Thanks to each of you who have signed this petition calling for action by the Madison County Commission regarding the intersection of Bishop Road and Old Monrovia Road. As noted by one of the signers, another accident took place at this intersection just this morning. It did not have the tragic outcome of the accident of 8/25 but nonetheless, this further illustrates the need for action.

The Madison County Commission meets on September 17. I plan to attend this meeting to formally present this petition and its signatures. I have reached out to the homeowners associations for Bishop Farms and Hidden Creek to ask for their support in getting signers for the petition.

The funeral for Donna (Gail) Preston who was tragically killed on Saturday, August 25 took place yesterday. The young man who was the driver, Deonta Davis remains hospitalized in critical condition. My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to these families.

Thank you for your support, Regina Hyatt

Traffic on that stretch of road needs to slow down to make that intersection safer. We live one street over and have witnessed the speed of drivers taking this road. Numerous more accidents are inevitable without change.

This is an extrememly dangerous intersection, especially during morning hours, and I'm concerned about my three teenagers who encounter this intersection daily on their way to school.

      This intersection is DEADLY!

The heavy traffic flow combined with the fact that you do not have adequate visiability to oncoming traffic is a definite case that a traffic light is a necessity!
