Keep the Glassell park swimming pool open year-round

    1. Petition by

      Michel Le Duff

      Glendale, CA

1. The number of public swimming pool in this part of town is low and closing one of them would just increase the saturation of the other facilities
2. Glassell is the only Parks and Recs outdoor facility currently open year round in this area.
3. Closing this facility during school year would mean suppression of many youth programs in a community where no alternative is offered.

We need more clean facilities and this is the only one in the area.

Pools are only open in the summer. Not so good for kids who want to swim for exercise or to go after their d their desire to be a high school / collegiate competitive swimmer. Open pools keep idle kids off the couch, and out of the street. Open pools employ adults and the youth alike. It has always saddened me to see the empty white pools heralding the end of the summer. If Tony V would lay off 2 or 3 of his minions er...staffers, this pool could remain open all year.

I love swimming, and not just during the summer to cool down, I love it all year. It's great exercise, and not everyone can afford to have their own pool.

Swimming is critical to many people's health and one of the few exercises people like me could do that are not damaging to the body. The pool is also affordable and close to us.

This pool is a treasure! Salt water pool, huge size, with shallow ends on BOTH sides - when do you ever see that AND it's utilized by the community at all hours? It's an essential branch of the community. Keep it open- it helps give lots of young people safe things to do. Have you see the water polo training going on there?
