Log Cabin Republicans: Don’t Endorse Romney/Ryan

Log Cabin Republicans: Don’t Endorse Romney/Ryan

    1. Sponsored by

Mitt Gets Worse -- a joint project of Courage Campaign and American Bridge 21st Century

Log Cabin Republicans have fought to promote LGBT equality for many years. And recently, they played a crucial role in repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and legalizing same-sex marriage in a number of states.

But right now, they’re on the eve of an important choice: Should they endorse Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan for President and Vice President of the United States?

Mitt Gets Worse is a coalition of activists and grassroots supporters that are holding Mitt and his running mate Paul Ryan accountable for their extreme and prejudiced records against LGBT equality.

We’re calling on Log Cabin Republicans to stand in solidarity with our community, and withhold their endorsement of the Romney / Ryan ticket. Will you sign our petition asking Log Cabin Republicans to stand with us?

The Log Cabin Republicans endorsed Mitt in his run for U.S. Senate in 1994 and again in 2002 when he ran for Governor of Massachusetts. They believed he would be an advocate for their platform and a champion of their work.

Unfortunately, when it comes to the rights of the LGBT community: Mitt Gets Worse.

In 2004, amid President Bush's full-throated support for a federal marriage amendment and dismal record on LGBT equality, the Log Cabin Republicans stood with our movement and withheld their endorsement. They can take another bold step -- but it’s up to supporters like you to speak up and ask them to do the right thing and protect equality for all Americans.

Please join us in calling on the Log Cabin Republicans to withhold support from Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, and prevent them from undoing our progress.

As long as Republicans deny homosexuals the same rights as other citizens, Log Cabin Republicans should disband and form a new group within the Democratic party.

Homosexuality was already declared not a psychological disorder, and is biologically influenced. They can't change who they are.

There is a growing number of LGBT Republicans that feel the Log Cabin Republicans have their priorities backwards. The primary goal of the Log Cabin Republican's should to be representing LGBT issues in the Republican campaign but instead it seems the Log Cabin's goal is to present the Republican ideals to the LGBT communnity. It is in our country's best interest to focus on the issues of the discriminated not maintaining the power of the bigots.
