Lithia Springs High School

Allow students to express their sexual orientation

As of this school year, Lithia Springs High School has been cracking down harshly, with detentions and going so far as to giving in school suspension to students who show support of the LGBT community in terms of their clothing, hairstyle, or bodily piercings, while students who support their religion (mainly Christians) via their clothing and such are not put under the same scrutiny or judgement. This is not right and a clear violation of our rights as Americans. Why is it that one group can be judged differently than another? What makes it so right for someone who worships God to be above someone who is supporting who they are as a person? This petition would be important for the protection of the freedoms of those who support their sexuality in the clothes they wear and how they look.

nonsense. Therefore in 24 hours I will get rid of this petition and end this entire fight against discrimination. I refuse to go down as "That kid in Douglasville who made that petition because someone told him some things that may or may not be true." I apologize to everyone who took the time out to sign this and thank you for the support.

As some of you may know, I don't go to Lithia Springs High School. Before you ask, "Then why did you make the petition?" hear me out. I made the petition because I was hearing reports of discrimination against the LGBT community at the school and realized that nobody was taking action against it at the school. It was at that point that I decided to make this publicly known and make this petition. I made this in the hopes of making a difference and providing a voice for those discriminated against. As the petition has been becoming more widespread I have been getting contacted by varying local news sources about things that have gone on at the school. As someone who doesn't go there, I have to rely on the information provided to me from the students. Unfortunately, the students have been extremely tight lipped as of late, therefore not helping the cause at all. I can't continue to rely on the information of ONE student and have this entire petition based off of "he-said, she-said"

Guys, this is amazing. 415 signatures in 2 DAYS. I'm surprised this petition has reached as far as it did. Now is not the time to falter, we need to continue to share this with friends, family, and everywhere else. We can reach the required 1K signatures by the end of the week if we keep it up like this.

It is not about LGBT rights, it is about EQUAL rights.

From my view ( yes a gay perspective) this is a new type of discrimination. Great analogy of what will happen if america follows in this discrimination. Lithia springs = Hitler and gays = the jews.

What if a principle is gay? Can they punish straights???? If I boy can kiss his girlfriend why cant I kiss mine.

I'm gay and proud. This is sick. Nothing more than a new form of discrimination.

Good Grief! Archaic stuff like this is still going on?! This is just another form of school bullying but from the Corporate level or a Board level. Bottom line fear, fear, fear! Grow Up! Get a Life! And get some educated and not outdated personnel in these departments who know better.
