Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia
The Honourable Steven Point

Please deny Royal Assent to Bill 22, the "Education Improvement Act"

    1. Dan Laidlaw
    2. Petition by

      Dan Laidlaw

      Kamloops, Canada

The Bill erodes democratic rights and due process, for educators but potentially for all labour negotiations. It puts the government beyond the jurisdiction of the courts and thus denies citizens the opportunity to pursue recourse and to negotiate fairly with employers. The bill is totalitarian, unnecessary, and does not belong in a democratic country.

Everybody should have the right to speak their mind, the government is basically pulling a fiver-year-old move and saying that they don't want to listen to what the teachers have to say. Just because they have more power doesn't make them automatically right, an it certainly doesn't mean that they should exercise this power whenever and however they choose.

This sets a horrible precedent and is a horrible thing to do to teachers and citizens of Canada in general. Let's come together to show the government that we will not stand for this type of dictatorship they are trying to run!

This bill has no back bone to the needs of teachers ability to negotiate, so there for it should have no place in government.
