A first step is to find blogs that cover your community.  http://LeftyBlogs.com and http://www.placeblogger.com are good resources for this.

You'll find that your local municipal and county governments deal with many issues that you care about, including the civil rights, protecting the environment, alternatives to fossil fuels, gay and lesbian rights, and so much more.

So few activists ever contact their local government.  In fact you can have a huge impact on these issues by just writing a letter or attending a meeting and speaking out.  If you stay involved you will find other people who share your concerns, and you can make even bigger changes.

We often forget that sometimes the things that affect your daily life the most are best fixed on a local level. These are good resources.

I seek changes that I can reasonably take part in.

Under the National Society of Clean Cities - Pune Chapter, guided gently but firmly by NSCC-PC President Satish Khot, a monthly meeting takes place in Pune Municipal Corporation in which NGOs meet the City councillors and bureaucrats and work out public private partnerships to ensure citizens' involvement in local issues.

These meetings have been going on awhile.

This is my committment to go on and on henceforth... I will always stay engaged with local government AT THE LOCATION of the government HQ itself.
