Stop the relocation of The Southbank Skate Park

Many of us professional skateboarders rely on Southbank to practice for our livelihood.

As well as being a mecca for skate boarders all over the world this is a very important place for many people, not to mention the added value the park and professionals bring in terms of tourism.

The proposal to move the skate park means it is not regarded as equally important as the the other cultural facilities at Southbank. It shows skate boarders are being marginalised and it proves that Southbank strategy is elitist and not serving local people.

Many young local people start skating here, it is a social meeting place as well as a place for sport and artistic talent.

to destroy such an amazing place which brings people together for some pointless restaurant is absolutely pointless especially since this a restaurant that will be changed many times but this historic skate park has been around for years and is apart of people life's and destroying somewhere which was created by skaters and BMXers themselves is Absurd.

London is rich with history, and just like the Globe Theatre or the Houses of Parliament, Southbank is an intrinsic part of London's cultural heritage. It is not just a place to skate, it is where skateboarders converge in appreciation and love for their art form. We don't want another skate park, Southbank has become something much more than that, its an icon and arguably the birthplace of skateboarding in the UK. Ripping down Southbank for corporate interest is just like paving over the Gherkin to make room for a new Tesco or hanging a McDonalds banner from the London Eye.
