The CD Kidz Bop 20 was released relatively recently, and it has the song Born This Way on it. However, their version of it is censored to make it "kid-friendly". This means, for some reason, that they removed the most LGBT-friendly line ("No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgender life").
This gives the message that promoting tolerance of differences and non-discrimination is not kid-friendly, and it also gives the message that there's something wrong with being LGBT+. That can make any LGBT+ kids who listen to that song feel excluded, like they don't belong, and like what they are is wrong. It can also make other kids feel that there's something wrong, unspeakable, or inappropriate about being LGBT+, since it wasn't included in a kids song.
It gives the impression that the company encourages intolerance, homophobia, transphobia and hatred, and discourages the message that being different is okay.
Born This Way is known for being a gay rights anthem, due to the fact that it specifically mentions that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people are born that way and that that's okay and should be embraced, along with every other difference, like race, disability or class. By removing that line, they're changing the message of the song greatly, and making it imply that all differences are okay, except for being LGBT+. That is not a good message to be sending to anyone, and it is most certainly not "kid-friendly" as Kidz Bop claims to be.
Sign this petition to tell Kidz Bop that making the song less LGBT-friendly is not being kid-friendly, it's the opposite. It's encouraging intolerance and hatred, and excluding kids who are LGBT+ and who may happen to listen to Kidz Bop.
They should stop selling the CD, and/or release a new version of Born This Way with the LGBT-friendly lines included.
