Mikhail Vaissenberg: The school history mainly remains unchanged after review.

Soldotna High School was built in 1980 as the first high school in the Soldotna area.  The colors and mascot of Soldotna High School have been a part of the Soldotna history for 33 years.

The current proposal calling for the combination of schools has also called for a changing of the school's name, colors and possibly the mascot.

Due to the fact that Skyview High School was built as a relief effort due to an over-crowded Soldotna High School in 1989 (9 years after SoHi), the history and traditions of the original establishment should not change but rather the secondary establishment of Skyview High School should be integrated into the history of the original establishment.

The current Skyview campus should maintain the Panthers logo if deemed fit for the middle school, however, the Soldotna High School campus should maintain their history, colors and significance as the original establishment.

The Soldotna High School campus should in return designate a portion of the facilities to the history and achievements of Skyview High School however the core of the facility as proposed above should remain.

Additionally, with the district looking to make budget cuts and save money, using resources and allowing financial allocation to such unnecessary changes is not appropriate.

Thank you to all of those who took the time to sign this petition and those who took additional monumental steps to achieve this outcome! Almost everything remains unchanged except for the small change of adding purple to the school colors!

There is NO valid reason for these changes. This is not in the best interest of the students in the Kenai Peninsula School District

Too costly for the school district to make these massive changes and entirely too many traditions are tied to SO-HI.

I do not believe it is an important enough educational issue on which to spend a great deal of funding. It is financially irresponsible in my opinion and I am a taxpayer.
