Top 10 Underappreciated Parks -- National Geographic

From the National Geographic book The 10 Best of Everything-National Parks Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon deserve the appreciation they receive, but the National Park System includes nearly 400 units, scores of lesser known sites that well reward a visit-and that are far less crowded than big-name parks.

    19. We are doing an amazing work here with the petition and TODAY IS THE DAY!

This is entirely an grassroots effort made up of 'just us folks who care' and it's less than a week old.
But now there is much more to this than Arkansas's unspoiled river and a factory hog farm. The Buffalo National River was forced to announce draconian reductions in staffing and services yesterday due to the Federal Budget Sequester, so now, who protects the river if a factory hog farm sits on a critical and immediate tributary of the Buffalo, who cleans up the crap?
Signing a petition and spreading the word may seem unimportant to some, or the the least we can do to others, but, either way, it's vitally important. Unless and until our representatives hear from us, we have not done our part.
Today is the day, we really have a chance to make an impact at the local level to keep the Buffalo clean and pristine, as the hog farm has started construction, but is not yet in operation. The people need to have their say, seek them out, have them sign, spread the word!
      WE CAN DO IT!!!

    20. Good Morning and Happy Saturday Everybody! We've Reached 1000!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! The credit belongs to each and every person who has signed the petition and asked others to sign. THANKS SO MUCH for keeping the Buffalo National River Clean and Pristine! This is a National River and so we are all stewards and stakeholders in the Buffalo. You and your kids and your grandkids grandkids should expect and deserve clean water! When we can't protect a National River ~ what's next? We NEED to generate a lot of attention for this is issue and signing the petition is key. Spread the link to all of your family / friends / anyone who may be like minded, your local news outlets, FaceBook and Twitter, and explain why keeping the Buffalo Clean and Pristine is important to you personally. Ask them to please sign the petition and spread the word and thank them profusely. We're all in this together so dig deep and find an extra gear so we can go the Quorum Court in Jasper Monday night with AT LEAST 5000 Signatures. I have faith in us and I know we can do it!

    22. 100 Signatures in 48 Hours!

Wow! We've reached over 100 signatures around 8:00am this morning (02/28/13) on the petition! (That's about 48 hrs after it was posted.) Thank you all so much. WTG!!! There's approximately 8300 people living in the county, (Newton), where the hog farm has been proposed, so I know we can do better. Let's go for 1000 signatures to let our representatives know that we expect and deserve the Buffalo National River to remain Clean and Pristine!

I feel that we should leave well enough alone when it comes to our clean environment, esp a national pristine treasure. Those brothers can find another spot to raise their hogs .
