The dog did nothing wrong. Excessive force was used when the officer shot the dog 5 times, in front of the owner's children, for jumping around and barking. Animal control was there, and the officer did NOT need to do these actions!  He needs to be fired, and brought up on charges of animal cruelty!  If a civilian citizen had shot this dog, for jumping around and barking, they would be in jail awaiting a trial.  The police are there to protect our communities, and our people.  They are NOT "above the law", and this particular crime should not be ignored!

The people would also like to see an update on police procedures for events such as these!  Obviously, most officers of the law wouldn't shoot the dog (I hope), but there needs to be specific training for handling a situation like this!!

According to NBC News, Arlington Police officers will be given training for handling animals! This is a good thing, and I'm glad to see them going in the right direction.

Arlington Officers to Undergo Dog Behavior Training

Arlington police say officers will undergo training to learn how to better understand dog behavior, including how to identify dangerous animals. In a news release Tuesday, the department said they instituted mandatory training that began over the summer and will soon include additional hands-on courses.

Bucky was killed one year ago, today. The family has been adjusting to life without him, but continue to fight for justice. Please continue to share the petition, so that we can try and get more success with it!

    4. Please keep sharing and offering support

      Julie Streeter

The family has needed to find a new attorney, due to the previous one not being able to finish the case. The family is needing $500 just for the new attorney to look at the case, and see whether they can go forward. Please, if you feel so inclined, feel free to continue to share the petition, and maybe offer some help for the family to pay the attorney fees.

    7. Meeting with Arlington PD

      Julie Streeter
      Petition Organizer

The family, along with a good friend of the family, were called into the Arlington PD for a meeting a couple of weeks ago. Basically, they were brought into this meeting under false pretenses, making them believe that they could work together to create a solution to the officers being properly trained on how to handle animal issues. Unfortunately, they were simply informed that the PD is sticking to their decision that Officer Davis was justified in the shooting of Bucky, and that they want the family to stop what they're doing about it. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!!

They've also requested that supports of Bucky send emails to someone other than the mayor, or the acting chief of police. When will this end?!?!?

      Julie Streeter
      Petition Organizer

With the family proceeding, with their attorney, into court, I felt it was necessary to reopen the petition. There are so many more of these types of incidents going on, and something needs to be done! Please continue to support the Yandle family, in asking for Justice for Bucky. Please continue to share this petition with your loved ones, and friends. Officer Jesse Davis was exonerated because of fraud, and the family is gathering the paperwork to prove it!

    10. Exonerated?!?!?!?!?

      Julie Streeter
      Petition Organizer

Officer Davis was exonerated, by Internal Affairs, and still remains on the street. This is a serious injustice! The paperwork filed by Officer Davis is missing pertinent information such as Buck Yandle's statement and information about the youngest child being less than 15 feet from the shooting. The petition will remain open as the attorney takes this case to court! Thank you for your support. Please continue to contact the police department by email and phone, to voice your complaints about this injustice!!!

There still hasn't been an update from the Arlington PD in regards to the investigation. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, or not, to be honest. I sincerely hope, for the sake of the family, that the investigation is concluded very soon!

I sent another email to Internal Affairs, Police Chief, and the mayor, advising them of them of our amount of signatures. I'm not expecting a response back, but here's what I wrote:
"I sent emails to all of you, last week Tuesday, letting you know we had reached 2,500 signatures for Justice for Bucky. We have now overcome 5,500 signatures. This is continuining to receive the attention of people, worldwide. I will continue updating you all, as the signatures keep going up. When we hit our next goal of 7,500 signatures, you will receive another email. Please advise me on the outcome of the investigation, so that I can notify those that support the family of Bucky."

    15. Email response from Police Chief, Theron Bowman

I got an email this morning, and these are a few keys points of his email:
"I appreciate you taking time to write and express your concerns. It is important that citizens like you have the opportunity to speak and be heard regarding concerns of this nature. I hope that as you follow this story, you’ll consider our responsibility and commitment to act objectively democratic... If we violate that commitment this time then we sacrifice our credibility and legitimacy every subsequent time."
" Internal Affairs will complete their fact-finding investigation and make a recommendation to the officer’s supervisors about his guilt or innocence, based on preponderance of evidence. His supervisors will then agree or disagree with that recommendation and assess the appropriate punishment if warranted, based on objectively neutral rational historical APD standards."
"We are investigating this incident with the utmost fervor"
I sent a response, asking for updates when it's done.

This is a new article from The Examiner in Plano, TX. It explains the situation about Bucky a little better, letting people know that he was a therapy dog for the owner's autistic son. The bond between an autistic child and a therapy dog helps the child cope when all other means have failed. Please continue to share this petition!! Thank you all for your support!

We have reached our goal, folks! Thank you all for your support! I will be emailing this petition to the Arlington Police Chief, Internal Affairs of Arlington PD, and the Mayor of Arlington today! Please continue to share this petition.

    20. Good news from the family's attorney

      Julie Streeter
      Petition Organizer

The family has been contacted by their attorney. He has stated that they are now allowed to release the officer's name, as well as receive a copy of his personnel file from Arlington PD. Officer Jesse Davis has killed a family pet before, so this is NOT his first offense. The first report was invetigated and nothing was done to correct this officer's mistake. Let's NOT let that happen again!!!!! More local media outlets have also been contacted, and we hope to hear something soon. Please continue to share this petition with everyone! I will be emailing it to the Arlington Police Chief, along with Internal Affairs, and the Mayor of Arlington within the week, and the closer we can get to our goal of 2,500 signatures, the better it should be!!!!

    22. Police report

      Julie Streeter
      Petition Organizer

The family went and took some paperwork to the Arlington Police Department, today, and received a copy of the police report. The report was written by the officer who shot Bucky, and all it said was, "While responding to an animal ordinance call, officer killed an aggressive dog". Bucky may have been aggressive, but he never attacked anyone, or made any kind of move to attack. The family has requested a FULL police report regarding the incident, and should have a copy of it within 14 days.

    23. Email response

      Julie Streeter
      Petition Organizer

I received an email response from the Arlington Police Department and wanted to share it:

"Thank you for your inquiry and concern. This incident is currently under investigation by our Internal Affairs Division. As such, we are unable to comment on the specific details related to the case at this time. Please know that anytime an officer uses deadly force, there is an administrative review that takes place to determine if the officer’s actions were appropriate. Once the investigation has been completed, details related to the case can be released."

Hopefully, we will get updated, soon, regarding the status of the officer.

I have emailed the mayor of arlington, the arlington police department's investigations, internal affairs, crime prevention and police administration, trying to get the word out to the proper people in regards to this petition. I am considering setting up a day to "strike" in front of the Arlington PD, or setting up a "call-in day" to their offices. Are you with me? Sign and share this!!!

This breaks my heart. I want the officer fired and charged with cruelty.

My pug is sitting in my lap right now. And if this had happened to him, I would want something done. Actually, I would want to put several bullets through the person responsible.

As the guardian of two bully breed dogs, who are an integral part of my family, it is extremely important to me that law enforcement be trained in dog behavior and non lethal methods of dealing with domestic animals. I do not want my beloved pets to become a statistic simply due to misunderstanding on the part of law enforcement.
