My neice was killed by a truck driver 7 months ago today. Last week I spoke to the DA and he informed me no charges would be made. She was a security officer at DuPont in New Johnsonville, TN and a cashier. She trained and fought with MMA, she was a judo instructor for youth. The driver had been driving for over 14 hours, had no brakes on the trailer, was in possession of an illegal log book, the truck was supposed to be out of service and so was the driver for being over his hours and not having an up to date health card.

My hby James was a truck driver and died due to bad equipment and unsafe equipment that his boss was aware of. James would never endanger anyone by drivin on the roads like some of these guys do. companys tend to push the drivers or loose their jobs etc. the drivers should just shut down lije they are suppose to or else if they are being told to drive no matter what they should refuse too. this thing of people getting killed has gotta stop!!!! enforce more laws on the drivers and the trucking companies!!! Ive known the Sharums for many years im so sorry for their loss!!

My thoughts and prayers go to the family and friends of Alex, I'm so sorry for your loss and I wish I could take your pain away. My husband is a truck driver and goes by the rules and regulations truckers are supposed to. When I hear of something like this happening, I fear it will give all truck drivers a bad name. Don't get me wrong, I believe something should be done but I think you'd probably have better luck going after the fly-by-night trucking company that the driver was working for. Some companies out there tell drivers to lie on their log books, they overlook an outdated health card, and, by rights, once the driver found out his trailer brakes weren't working he probably notified the company and they told him not to worry about it just get the load delivered, he should have been made to sit at a set of scales, truck stop, any place until the brakes on the trailer were fixed. I wish there was someway to find the companies/drivers that disobey the rules that to good drivers come second nature. If this driver was delivering to DuPont in New Johnsville, TN they would know the name of the company and the driver for that matter. Good Luck, I hope justice you get the justice you all deserve. God Bless.
