Joplin R-8 School District: Allow Randy Turner To Continue Teaching

    1. Petition by

      Laela Zaidi

ATTEND THE PUBLIC HEARING ON MAY 23RD AT THE ADMINISTRATION BUILDING 8:00 am. We will be waving signs, wearing black shirts, and spreading our message to the community! (more info and RSVP here :https://www.facebook.com/events/562278437146219/?ref=br_tf)

Randy Turner is a beloved teacher at East Middle School, former journalist and writer, and great person. He has inspired students throughout his career at Joplin Schools, and always has his students' best interests in mind.

The school district's accusations against Mr. Turner are untrue and unjust (for more information on the allegations: http://rturner229.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-books-that-got-me-fired_25.html?spref=fb)

Sign this petition to let the Board of Education know that letting Mr. Turner go would be a mistake and loss to our school district.

I am a 2013 graduate and think that Joplin Schools has done me a great disservice. They need to spend more time worrying about getting students a better education than attempting to get rid of the few god teachers in the district.

It is important to allow this teacher to continue in his position. The School Board needs to realize they can be wrong and they are in this situation.

I, too, am a teacher, and I am appalled at how Mr. Turner has been treated.

great teachers should be allowed to teach. I highly doubt that the content of the book in question is anything those kids have not seen on tv or heard about from their friends. If he did not require them to read it, how can it be a crime. I mention the bible from time to time, does that mean I am making students read it... NO

I believe Mr. Turner is being unfairly railroaded for something other than what he is being charged with.
