Fix or replace Transformer Prime Model TF201

Asus released the Transformer Prime mere weeks ago after several delays. One of the reasons for this delay was rumored to be wifi issues due to the aluminum body design.
Asus responded that it was only a few in the first batch that were victims of this design flaw and they recalled 300 units as a result.
Upon release, end users have found that the WiFi issue is much more widespread, in addition, we are finding that GPS and bluetooth issues are also a likely result of the same design flaw.
In response to these revelations Asus simply opted to remove the GPS spec from the spec list altogether and to make matters worse, Asus announced on 1/10/2012 that a new improved Transformer Prime was near release. Aside from the improved screen and front facing camera, it seems the main things Asus touted with this iteration of the Prime are the improved back plate that has all but eliminated the problems with wireless connections such as GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth.

This petition is to encourage Asus to at least allow current TF201 owners a genuine fix by way of a retrofitted backplate replaced by Asus OR a reasonable option to trade in for the TF700T.

It's not likely that the backs will ever be replaceable, nor is it likely that GPS will ever work perfectly (without the Dongle). The purpose of this petition was to get ASUS to offer a fix or replacement of defective TF201's and I believe that they have/are finally making the majority of TF201 customers happy. If you still have problems you can send me a private message and I'll be happy to go to bat on your behalf and make something happen.

I think ASUS has heard the cries of the majority of disgruntled TF201 owners. I've gotten sporadic correspondence from ASUS HQ regarding the calls, letters, emails and the thousands of petition signers (this and other petitions similar to it). They have been providing "fixes" over the last several weeks. Many of which are a direct response to the pressure. One key indicator is the fact that they have done (albeit silently) an about face on the whole GPS issue, first the opened up the RMA/repair channels and made it easier (in most cases free) for people (like myself) to get issues enhanced, then they rolled out no less than 3 updates that had direct impact on WiFi (and to a lesser extent GPS) issues and now this Gps Extension Kit. For what it's worth, I think we've gotten all we can expect to get without actually demanding an unreasonable "free" upgraded Prime such as the 700T.

I'll start by saying this. WE ARE BEING HEARD BY ASUS! It's a small step but a step forward nonetheless. I got a call back from Asus today after leaving several messages, during the conversation I expressed to them that I represent several hundred TF201 owners that are not ANGRY but not totally happy with their product. I let them know that for what it's worth, wireless issues aside, this machine is a work of art. I congratulated them for envisioning such a unique and powerful concept. HOWEVER, I also let them know that it seems the specific problems in the TF201 were address and seemingly fixed in the TF700T.

I went ahead to explain that for the most part, at least the folks I'm speaking for aren't demanding free TF700T's, not even demanding money back at the moment but we'd like some attention and a solution put on the table to rectify OUR problems.

Now let me break here to say this. Folks things like this take time and

We have exceeded 600 signatures in just over a day and a half. While this is impressive, especially considering our lack of attention at the moment, I hope to see this number DOUBLE by tomorrow (Friday January 13) morning. Let's keep getting the word out. Tip tech blog sites, android sites and remember to keep sending those messages directly to Asus. We can see something positive happen here if we keep the faith. Thank you all for your support this far! Will keep you posted as the situation evolves. Have a good day friends.

Bought 2 tablets, BOTH have WiFi and GPS issues, and now BOTH are having random reboot issues. I regret purchasing these tablets.

My GPS doesn't work and WiFi is slow to the point that a pop up states that it's not responding.

I agree with some of the other posters. I cannot get a GPS signal most of the time. WI-FI mostly works. I believe the TF201 should be generally recalled and repaired properly.
