Even in these tough economic times, the City of Houston spends billions of dollars every year providing services and building infrastructure for our citizens.
It's just common sense that we should spend as much of that money as possible working with local businesses that will create new jobs and keep Houstonians working.
That's why Mayor Annise Parker has proposed Hire Houston First, a new ordinance that would allow the City to give preference to local companies when hiring for taxpayer-funded projects. Working with local firms that hire local workers will keep our tax dollars in our community, and multiply them many times over.
Our leaders should do everything we can to make sure our tax dollars are invested in our community.
Take action today and urge the City Council that you support Mayor Annise Parker's plan to Hire Houston First.
