IT Employees Protest Against Fuel Price Hike in Bangalore

    1. Petition by

      ITEC Bangalore

Petrol Price Hike? Why make a fuss?
• The price hike in petrol by Rs 7.50 is the steepest ever hike
• 3 years ago, the prices were just around half of the current prices

How is it going to affect you?
• When fuel price increase, transportation cost (for transporting the essential commodities from the place where they are made to the market) increases, which increases the price of all essential commodities like rice, wheat, pulses and vegetables
• It will also affect the prices of fuel dependent services like public and
private transport
• And effectively when price increases everywhere, it means you have to pay more with your same salary which means a reduction in your real wages

But isn't the Government helpless when the Oil companies are
making losses?
• Indian Oil Companies are making huge profits, which can be easily verified
by looking at their balance sheets
• Oil companies make 'under recoveries', which is not real loss, Greater transparency is needed in Fuel pricing in India

• International oil price have come down, this offsets the fall of Rupee's value against the Dollar

What is our Demand?
• Roll back the fuel price rise
• Rationalise the tax composition by bringing down the indirect taxes which burdens the people
• Bring back the regulation of fuel prices

This is just the same Sonia Drama. Increase some Rupees, then reduce a few paise after protest... So the buffoon citizens of India praise Congress party and make them win again in full majority!

Obviously the reason i would like to sign this petition is the same like other common citizens of India. The present situation doesn't demand a price hike because of many reasons. The major reason is the comparison of International crude oil price with that of India. Indian prices are supposed to come down but what we saw was a record hike in the price. Also, the Indian oil companies are having lakh crores of profits in a quarter and the additional taxes imposed are not acceptable. A comparison of oil prices must be made with our neighbouring countries too. There are many more reasons though. I strongly deny the reason for such an hike.

Absurdly high price for the petrol in India is in no way justifiable. Govt is totally mismanaging the oil industry and coming up with excuses to loot the public. Govt should abandon the deregulation of the oil prices and ensure stability for oil prices at a reasonable level.

The price hike disproportionately affects working people who have to commute to office every day and also poorer people.
