As an NIH-funded researcher myself, I believe that the peer-review processs at CSR determined the capacity of the original PI to conduct the research and not the individual at the WPI who now has the grant. This field sorely needs competent research, and the current situation is undermining the production of good science.

I am amazed that these grants were simply transferred over to WPI, despite ongoing soliciting of patient monies by Annette Whittemore and Vincent Lombardi for unvalidated, unproven, non-FDA approved lab tests in a contaminated diagnostic laboratory. That lab did not have an onsite phlebotomist. Further, Lombardi represented he was present and worked on the grants, however, he did not spend one day in the scientific lab. Dr. Mikovits actually did the work. As well, Lombardi left his post doctorate job title and instead took the title of lab director, later research director when he was not competent or trainable, and refused to take part in learning how science is done. Lombardi remains incompetent and unqualified to do either diagnostic lab work or science research. These lab tests as advertised by Mrs. Whittemore and Lombardi are fraudulent. VIPDx/UNEVx stopped advertising some of their tests after the State of Nevada told them to stop advertising them. However they are still pushing unvalidated laboratory tests. WPI owes money back to everyone who had "tests" done by the VIPDx and UNEVx labs. When the true scientist who brought these grants in, Dr.Mikovits, refused to say the above lab tests were valid she was fired. Lombardi also continued to take salary from the grant monies while working as the lab director. The monitors at NIH, NIAID, and DOD failed to talk to the original scientists who did the actual work. Dr. Beisel and his colleagues should be investigated for promoting these abuses of the funds from the grants and for failing to properly respond to the concerns expressed in emails and telephone calls by the scientists that collaborated with Dr. Mikovits and with the scientists that wrote letters of support for the grants. The current letters of support are from individuals not suited to this kind of work, and they have colorful histories of scientific abuses. One of them is a known predator. The agencies have remained unresponsive to inquiries from patients, scientists and the public's right to know. There is a trail of accounting that shows that monies were taken from various projects and some even embezzled from another set of businesses, as well as from patient donations. It was standard practice at the WPI offices that each employee was required to contribute to the political campaigns of Harry Reid and others, as directed by Harvey and Annette Whittemore. The ones who are losing are the patients and the taxpayers. The callousness of all the institutional officials and agencies is appalling and illegal. My younger sister died from ME/CFS two years ago while the Whittemores were defrauding the government and their business partners..
