      Cape Coral, FL

From 1953 to 2011 there have been 113 recorded tornadoes based on the statistics found at http://www.tornadohistoryproject.com/tornado/Florida/Lee. These tornadoes injured 30 residents. As we all know, tornadoes can leave neighborhoods and cities devastated. These tornado sirens would give all residents the advantage of knowing a tornado is about to hit, whether it is in the day or the middle of the night. One of the most important things in a tornado is having the few seconds to a couple of minutes that these sirens offer citizens to prepare for impact. This can prevent life threatening injuries and fatalities. Please, for the safety of all of the citizens of Lee county, FL, install Emergency/Tornado sirens. This petition is aimed at the Lee County, FL Board of Commissioners: John Manning; Brian Bigelow; Ray Judah;Tammy Hall; Frank Mann

(Expletives) These people are terrified as they watch a developing tornado in Cape Coral, FL. In the beginning of the video you can hear the frightened expressions as one member of the party asks, "Are we going to die if it touches down?". This shows a fraction of the fear a tornado can create. The people had time to see it coming, but what about the hundreds of citizens that might not have?

People seem to only want to take action when the unthinkable happens. I choose not to wait. Mother Nature hasn't dialed our number in awhile. I just want to be prepared when she does!

Tornado warning sirens provide valuable life-saving seconds to take cover, especially in the middle of the night when we all may be sleeping through the storm.

On average there is at least one tornado a year in Lee County, FL. As a resident of Cape Coral, FL I have witnessed the terror that these storms can cause families. We must move toward updating our city and county with effective warning systems in order to provide the best living environment for our citizens. I want to know when a tornado is coming and sitting in front of the t.v. for hours waiting for updates on storms isn't a plausible option.
