Jennifer* was a loyal employee for 15 years at HOYTS cinema. She was victim of sexual harassment at work. When she raised her concerns she was subjected to extreme bullying - just for standing up for it. It was so dreadful and traumatic that she was not able to go back to work. Jennifer has had to leave her job of 15 years because of workplace bullying that Hoyts failed to stop. If this isn’t horrifying enough, HOYTS just sat on it for a year and ignored the psychological trauma that it brought to Jennifer.
Hoyts is one of the leading cinemas in Australia. A majority of their market share are female moviegoers. They should be very much concerned about the safety of the women in the workplace and need to immediately implement a stricter anti-sexual discrimination and anti-bullying employment policies and conduct education/training for their personnel about anti-harassment and workplace bullying - especially for all management.
This petition is to show full support and rally behind Jennifer* against corporate giant Hoyts who has been pushing her aside. This is to make Hoyts feel that it is NOT OK to condone sexual harassment and bullying campaigns against victims of sexual harassment. We must hold them to account.
According to the Australian Human Rights Commission, a shocking ratio of 1 out of 3 women aged 18-64 have experienced sexual harassment in their lifetime, most of which happened in the workplace. This has to stop, which is why I have started this petition. When women do raise concerns - employers such as Hoyts must protect them from bullies.
