      Fresno, United States

Rep. Paul Broun publically and vocally has stated that he does not agree with the most basic tenets of scientific process and critical thought. He is incompetent scientifically and damages the Committee and its purpose with his presence.

We the undersigned respectfully request Rep. Broun's removal from the committee immediately.

“All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the Big Bang Theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of Hell... And it’s lies to try to keep me and all the folks who were taught that from understanding that they need a savior.”

-Paul Broun, Republican Member of the House Science Committee

That's how many signatures we have at the time of this posting, and I know for a fact that when I hit Post and the page refreshes, there will be more than that. This is fantastic.

The petition was mentioned today on Daily Kos and The Register UK. Let's see where else we can get noticed!

Thanks to each and every one of you who took the time to sign and share. On to 50k!

The response to this petition over the weekend has simply amazed me. It feels great to know that there are so many fellow Americans out there who actually care about this issue. Guys, we went from under 500 signatures on Saturday night to almost 15,000 by this morning. AMAZING. This is all thanks to your efforts sharing the petition via social media, blogs, etc. This is all thanks to a LITTLE bit of work by a LOT of people who care about something.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and let's keep it up. I promised that if we got over 10k signatures, I would contact Rep Hall's office and send him a printout, so when we hit a plateau, that's what's up next. But things aren't slowing down - over 6k signatures have been in the last hour!

The more people we have, the more Rep Hall will listen to what we're saying. Keep that social media barrage going, and again, THANK YOU ALL for the time you've taken to help this thing get moving.

I want to thank everyone who has signed this petition, and ask you over this weekend to share the fact that you signed it via Facebook or twitter, or whatever social media you use. This has resonated with people more than I thought it would. People like you and me, who are tired of religious fundamentalists co-opting science and education in this country. Facts matter. Critical thinking matters.

Spread the word to you friends and family. Let's get a thousand signatures on this thing.
