Make false allegations a criminal offence

Having a false allegation made against a person can destroy their lives. They can be wrongly convicted, lose their children, their home, their job and damage their health. The only action that can be taken against a perpetrator is for them to be charged with perjury or wasting police time. These are defences of the state not the person. False allegations inflict real harm on the innocent and should be criminalized.

I believe professionals and their organisations should also not be exempt from prosecution for making false allegations.

I know people who have been the victims of false allegations, and these victims can suffer wrongful imprisonment, persecution and ostracism. Those who make false allegations to the police should suffer the same penalty as their victims would.

I was wrongfully accused on false allegations in 2005, fortunately, after a full crown court trial, i was fully acquitted. Making false allegations should be made a criminal offence!
