Hispanic Scholarship Fund: Open up scholarship monies to DREAM students

Now that many DREAM students are eligible to attend colleges and universities via DACA, they need monies to be able to attend the college or university of their choice. HSF could be an important source of scholarships for them, especially if they continue to be subjected to the exorbitant out-state fees.

We have reached 1200 signatures. HSF officials have not made made any official announcements or decisions, but it has been learned that they have decided to include dreamers in their scholarships. The decision is one of timing. They need to know the urgency of now.. so keep posting/sharing to all your networks. Waiting another year (or two) is not good enough. thanks... a meeting has been petitioned also...but no response on that yet. Thanks Dr. Cintli: XColumn@gmail.com 520-271-6796

The courage and initiative that DREAMERS have shown the past few years has been historic in the realm of human rights. They completely have earned the right to attend the college and university of their choice... but it can't be done without money. The HSF is one of the scholarship organizations that could make a difference, especially by setting an example. When we reach 1,000, signatures, we will make another approach to them. But the signatures should keep coming. It is virtually the moral issue of our times. They should be flooded by thousands of signatures, not just 1,000. Keep sharing and posting. Will keep everyone posted on the timeline re next steps, etc. thank you. For more info, write: Dr. Cintli XColumn@gmail.com

Dreamers should now have the same opportunities as U.S. residents, because we have been raised here. There should be more scholarships that help many dreamers.

The reason why singing this petition is important to me is because i am an undocumented student passionate to pursue a higher learning education.

Many DREAMers have aspirations of attending college; however, many do not have the financial resources to pursue their goal. According to the mission of the HFS, the organization "strives to make college education a top priority for every Latino family across the nation..." If this is truly the case, then DREAMers should also have the opportunity to apply for this scholarship. This is important to me because I believe that everyone should have an equal opportunity to pursue their educational goal. As a DREAMer who has gone through the higher education system, I too know the importance of having the financial resources to earn a degree. Every scholarship helps.
