Help reduce the US obesity epidemic with info Americans can understand

Statistics: 58 million Americans are overweight; 40 million are obese and 3 million morbidly obese. By 2030, 42% of Americans will be obese and cost $1 Trillion more in health costs.

Currently the FDA requires Food Labeling to be in grams. But most Americans don’t understand the metric system. By converting grams to teaspoons, Americans will have a better grasp of how much sugar they are consuming. For example, a can of soda contains 40 grams of sugar and most shrug and drink it. But what if it said it contained over 10 teaspoons of sugar?

Too many calories from sugar-rich foods can lead to obesity.

That's why we started this petition to: 1) Add the number of teaspoons of sugar contained in the whole product on the front of the package; 2) Add the number of teaspoons of sugar in each serving on the side label, "Nutritional Facts."

Please help and sign our petition…together we CAN reverse the obesity epidemic.

Nutritional education is very important to start fighting this epidemic. Without educating people on why they are obese how can we expect to overcome this growing problem.
