Help Protect Oceans in 2011

    1. Petition by

      The Nature Conservancy

Pledge to help save oceans by taking a few simple actions:

    * Use Reusable Bags
    * Eat Sustainably
    * Green your Gardening

Will you join us in saving oceans and marine life?  We use billions of plastic bags every year in the US alone, 50% of them end up in landfills and about 45% end up floating in our oceans where they can kill marine life.  Scientists estimate that we have already removed as much as 90 percent of the large predatory fish like sharks, swordfish and cod from the world's oceans.  This not only wrecks those species but also has far-reaching effects down the food chain.  And of the 30 common pesticides used on lawns, 26 are linked to serious human illness including cancer and major organ disease and 24 are toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms.  But don't get overwhelmed - let's just do something about it!

      We need to reach more people who are not already committed, the way we all are, to saving and restoring so far as possible, our planet for our grandchildren and theirs and so on. Peace, etc., Bruce

       I am starting a business called Starvin Marvin recycling which will recycle 170 tons of scrap metal a month during its first year and will grow larger from there.  We also recycle everything in garbage here in Oregon.

      In my city-parish (county), we have a recycling program. I asked for my bin in Spetember 2009 and finally got it. Now, more goes into my recycling bin than in my trash bin.
