Help make Long Beach, CA a no kill city for animals for "Just One Day"

Every day, thousands of animals are killed in shelters across the country just because they are homeless. We now know that there are better methods of animal sheltering based on a no kill model. We are asking Long Beach Animal Care Services to join a nationwide effort and sign a pledge to stop euthanizing shelter animals for "Just One Day" and make June 11, 2012 a day when no healthy, adoptable animal is killed just because it doesn't have a home. This effort will put Long Beach, CA on the path to becoming a no kill city for animals and make it a better place for the people who love them.

    1. Yesterday was June 11 - "Just One Day"

The success stories abound - across the country shelters reported full parking lots and empty cages. Some were actually running out of animals to be adopted!

    2. Thanks for signing our petition. Technically, we've achieved our goal.

Long Beach Animal Care Services has agreed not to euthanize any savable, adoptable animals on June 11, 2012, although they won't be signing the "Just One Day" pledge. Nonetheless, this is a step in the right direction and, hopefully, the first of many.

Thanks for taking the time to be a voice for those who don't have one. Please keep in touch with us on Facebook, and on our website (see below)

We need to educate the public on the present process of what happens at the shelter after a animal is surrendered, found or lost.

I love animals and we should be protecting them. It's our responsiblity! Our cat Noah is from Noah's Ark and these women were not euthanizing the animals...but it was dirty and all the animals were sick as a result...so we have to have common sense and do what is the healthiest for the animals.
