Hear SNDA - All Youth Deserve a Safe School

      Phoenix, United States

My name is Caleb Laieski, 16, of Arizona.

As a bullied gay youth who had to drop out of school for safety reasons, I am currently working on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. to get support for the Student Non-Discrimination Act, which would require schools to include sexual orientation and gender identity in their current non-discrimination policy.

Please join me in asking Chairman John Kline, Chair of the Education and the Workforce Committee, to bring this key legislation up for discussion in the committee.

The Honorable Chairman Kline
As a concerned citizen, I am requesting that you allow the Student Non-Discrimination Act a hearing in the Education and Workforce Committee at the earliest opportunity.

The issue of safe schools is an important issue to many of us, and I think we can all come together to say that we want safe schools.

Signed,

Sincerely,

That ALL children in our school system do not feel safe, and confident that their educators and administrators will protect them from discrimination and violence is unacceptable. It is utter insanity that this concept should even need to be written into law, to govern a system that is designed to facilitate the education of our youth.

If our gay youth can not feel safe in the educational system, what does that say about the Educational system that has a responsibility of :Duty of Care: for ALL students not just a selected few!!
